AIR CONDITIONING SERVICE

Air conditioning service is regular maintenance to keep your system(s) clean and running efficiently. Air conditioning systems are not maintenance free and do require regular attention. We recommend that your system(s) is maintained annually as a minimum or, depending upon the environmental conditions at your location, twice a year as the seasons change.

You have made a substantial investment in your system(s), and regular air conditioning service will protect this. If you look after your air conditioner system(s) you can enjoy climate controlled comfort for years to come.

Air conditioner manufacturers will state in their warranty card what is the ‘owners responsibility’; these can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Our air conditioning service will cover this as well as covering items that we believe can be troublesome if not maintained, such as:

Can build up in unmaintained system(s) and have unpleasant smells as well as health repercussions.

Can become blocked with dust picked up from the system, and when mixed with water can form a ‘cloggy’ mass in the drain and block it.

If the filters are not cleaned on a regular basis it can have numerous effects on your air conditioner; dust particles can loosen and get into the coil requiring a thorough coil clean or in some cases can cause the system to malfunction; this will not be covered by warranty if still in the warranty period.

This can block air flow around your system, which can cause the system to not only run inefficiently but could also cause the system to malfunction; this will not be covered by warranty if still in the warranty period.

What is carried out during an air conditioning service?

An air conditioning service will generally take 30-90mins per system, depending upon the size and type of the system and locations. This is what is carried out during a service:

  • Check controller and that all functions are working properly
  • Check air flow
  • Clean grille / face cover
  • Check gas levels / running pressures
  • Check condensate drains
  • Clean Filters
  • Inspect condition of condenser coils
  • Inspect electrical components
  • Check general condition of indoor and outdoor units
  • Clear any debris away from outdoor unit
  • Wash/Wipe down outdoor unit

Please note: all of the above may not be required - it depends on the type of system installed and if access is available.

  • Clean return air grille and filters
  • Check gas levels / running pressures

  • Check operation of zones including motors
  • Check operation of compressors and condenser fans
  • Inspect condition of condenser coils
  • Inspect electrical components
  • Wash/Wipe down outdoor unit

What is carried out during an air conditioning service?

Sometimes the technicians assess dirt and mould build up within the fancoil/indoor component of your air conditioning system. If this happens we would recommend an internal clean (not included in the general service). This would include dismantling the system to undertake a thorough clean.

An internal clean may not seem worth while, but here are a few reasons why you should really consider having the work carried out:

  • The mould and bacteria build up is being blown into the area with the conditioned air and could result in illnesses.
  • The system will be working harder and will require more electricity to work resulting in higher electricity bills.
  • Fans with built dirt up can go out of balance and may need replacement in the future; along with the system working harder the system may fail sooner that it may have done.

Living close to the beaches, salt in the air can cause systems to rust quicker than in other areas. Manufacturers do not warrant against damage or deterioration caused by normal weathering or corrosive atmospheric conditions. Adding additional anti-corrosive protection onto mechanical components at service time will help to protect the system(s) and increase longevity, giving you a better and longer chance against rust/corrosion problems arising. This is not included in a general air conditioning service. The technician will let you know if this is advisable for you. We will forward our recommendations with an estimate of cost to be booked in at a later date.

Please note: this does not stop surface rust appearing, and no warranty against corrosion is given, with or without the additional anti-corrosive protection. This helps towards longevity, but does not mean that rust/corrosion is prevented.

An air balance is not included in a general service. If you would like an air balance to be carried out please advise when we contact you for the annual service. Two technicians would be required to carry out the air balance and extra labour charges
would be incurred.

WARRANTY

Please be aware of what is and isn’t covered by warranty. If upon inspection of your system the problem is something not covered by warranty, a charge may be incurred. If upon inspection the problem is due to misuse, no problem found, or is not covered by warranty, again a charge may be incurred.

Refrigerant Gas Leaks

Refrigerant piping and gas leaks are only covered by a 1 year warranty. All care and attention is taken on installation but refrigerant gas leaks still can occur. A slight knock to the system can damage the pipes or loosen connections at the flare and cause a leak. Depending upon where the leak is found, this may be claimable under Daikin’s warranty.

DOMESTIC AGREEMENTS

A domestic maintenance program is offered with new installations. This is included in our installation recommendations to you and gives you the option to accept this along with installation. We offer preferential pricing as well as discounts. Payment is required annually in advance. If you wish to take out a maintenance agreement for an existing system(s), please advise and we can tailor an agreement for you.

COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS

We have numerous commercial clients where we undertake maintenance of their system(s) on a regular basis. These clients vary such as large Catholic schools, government organisations, shops and offices for small to medium sized commercial clients. These clients need maintenance on a more regular basis and range from every month to every six months depending upon environment and usage. We offer our commercial clients contracts with preferential pricing and discounts.

PRICING AND PAYMENT

Our prices are stated here on our website. We will advise you at the time of booking that when we call you to confirm the day of our visit we will ask for credit card details. Giving us your details authorises us to take payment from your credit card. This saves us extra administration in chasing up payments after the event.

ACCESS/OHS

Health and Safety of our technicians is paramount. If upon arrival the technician cannot carry out the service/repair due to health and safety reasons or difficult access, we will either carry out what we can or reschedule for another date; Any recommendations for safe working will be forwarded to you.

CONFIRMATION

We will email you a confirmation after a booking request has been received. It will advise our procedures and your price for our visit, as discussed.

AIR BALANCE

An air balance is not included in a General Service. Depending upon how many rooms require balancing and the length of time required to carry it out, extra labour charges will be incurred. This would be assessed when carrying out a general service and we would arrange to return at another date.

SCHEDULING

Once we receive your booking request, a job is created and is put in a pending list awaiting scheduling. Please advise days or dates that would work best for you, or we should avoid, to assist with our scheduling. When we confirm the booking with you we can only advise an AM or PM time slot.

AM is 7.30-13.00
PM is 12.00-17.00

FILTERS

There are various types of filters for different systems and setups; we may not keep a record of this when your system is installed. We can assess your filters when carrying out a general service on your system and advise if they need to be replaced.
